Key Concepts
An overview of the three fundamental concepts of the platform: Sequence, Dataset, and Working Group.
Sequence
The basic unit of the platform.
Each sequence represents a genomic element along with its associated metadata.
Sequences can be public or private (see Data Sharing), depending on the submitter’s choice.
Dataset
A dataset is a public collection of sequences published on the platform (see Dataset).
It provides structure and context for data grouped around a specific theme, project, or study.
A dataset may receive a DOI, enabling citation in scientific work.
Working Group
A working group is a collaborative space bringing together multiple users.
It allows members to:
- exchange sequences
- work collectively on datasets
- coordinate contributions within a shared project
See also Working Groups in the Collaboration & Sharing section.
